Presentation
o Project Title: Analyzing Food Preferences.
Objective
To understand and analyze the food preferences of individuals through primary data
collection, and to present findings using basic statistical techniques.
Instructions
o Formulating the Research Question
o Define a clear research question related to food preferences.
For example: “What are the most popular food items among
students at our university?”
o Data Collection
o Design a survey with at least 10 questions. The survey should
include questions on demographics (age, gender, year of
study), eating habits (frequency of eating on campus, preferred
mealtimes, favorite restaurants), and specific food preferences
(favorite cuisines, preferred food items, dietary restrictions).
o Collect responses from at least 30 people over the age of 17.
o Data Entry and Organization
o Enter the collected data into a spreadsheet. Each column
should represent a survey question, and each row should
represent a respondent.
o Ensure the data is clean and organized for analysis.
o Descriptive Statistics
o Calculate and present the following descriptive statistics:
· Mean, median, and mode for numerical data (e.g., age,
frequency of eating on campus).
· Frequency distributions for categorical data (e.g.,
preferred cuisines, dietary restrictions)
o Visualization
o Create at least three different types of charts/graphs to visually
represent the data. Possible options include bar charts, pie
charts, and histograms.
Analysis and Interpretation
O Analyze the data to identify trends and patterns. For example,
determine the most and least popular food items, or identify
any differences in preferences based on demographics.
o Interpret the results in the context of the research question.
Discuss any interesting findings or anomalies
Report Writing
o Write a report summarizing the entire project. The report
should include:
· Introduction (research question, objectives)
· Methodology (survey design, data collection process)
· Results (descriptive statistics, visualizations)
· Analysis (trends, patterns, interpretations)
· Conclusion (summary of findings, potential
implications, suggestions for further research)
Presentation
· Prepare the PowerPoint
Project Submission
· Submit the spreadsheet with the collected data.
· Submit the written report.
