Then use what you learned from that reading to analyze the culture of the organization, from the perspective of how it may shape ethical behavior. Consider both the formal and informal aspects of the culture. Select the 3 or 4 most important components to be the focus for your write-up.<\/p>\n

Here is a list of culture components to consider (taken from the reading): <\/span>Executive Leadership; Selection System; Values, Mission Statements, Policies; Orientation\/Training; Performance Management Systems; Organizational Structure; Decision Processes; Heroes\/Role Models; Norms; Rituals; Myths\/Stories; Ethical Language<\/p>\n

Use the evaluation rubric below to structure the paper. <\/span><\/strong>Your paper should have these four sections: Overall Ethical Assessment; Key Cultural Components; Assessment of Alignment; Takeaways\/Recommendations. Use section headings. The rubric should also be helpful as a template for you to apply the concepts. Your paper will be evaluated based upon accurate application of ethical culture concepts from the reading, along with use of explicit examples from your experience. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Make the link to ethical behavior or outcomes.<\/strong> <\/span>Do not forget to address this key issue. How do you see the cultural components influencing ethical behavior or ethical outcomes in the organization (in positive and\/or negative ways)? Try to use concrete examples to illustrate this connection. The best examples often come from your own experience. These examples can be small or large. You may also consider hypothetical examples, applying logic from the reading.<\/p>\n

Consider the impact of \u201cabsent\u201d cultural components <\/span><\/strong>in your organization (e.g., no ethics training). You might decide that one of the most significant determinants of ethical behavior involves a component that is absent rather than present. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Try to dig beneath the surface a bit. <\/span><\/strong>Often, culture (especially the informal side) is evident only when contrasted with other cultures that are different. So, feel free to discuss your audits with classmates. Just make sure that your final product is your own. <\/span><\/p>\n

Think hard about your take-aways and recommendations. <\/span><\/strong>What would you change and why? What are the key take-aways? This requires some thought.<\/p>\n
