Read ch 6-12 from Hossler & Bontrager<\/span><\/p>\n this is what you are doing: Write a brief essay based upon a recent article related to one of the topics covered in this week’s reading.<\/b><\/p>\n Each essay will have two parts: a summary and an evaluation. The summary will reproduce the basic argument of the original piece in miniature. While the summary must be intelligible to a reader who has not read the original, it will also serve as a reference for you later in the course when the details of the reading may have begun to fade from your mind.<\/p>\n The second part will focus on your evaluation of the author\u2019s claims. How do the author\u2019s arguments coincide (or not) with points made by other course authors? What questions or concerns does the piece raise? In particular, consider the social, political, and\/or economic implications.<\/p>\n
