Watch the video \u201cRevelations\u201d choreographed by Alvin Ailey and analyze the dance. Explain the concept the choreographer is trying to express in this dance. Describe the dancer\u2019s movement and tell how it expresses the idea of the dance. Compare it to the process of experiencing life and how it reflects society and the culture it represents. This paper should be 2 page long double-spaced. At least 4 paragraphs. Do some research about Alvin Ailey and the subject matter he displays in the dance, use at least two sources (News, websites or magazine articles) cite it within the text of your paper and on a work cited page at the end of your paper MLA format.<\/p>\n

Each student must write a Dance Concert Critique based on the guidelines below.  Grades are based on completeness, content, insight, grammar, spelling and organization. All critiques are required to have a title page.  The title page is a whole cover page that list student\u2019s name, professor\u2019s name, class name (Dance 301) day and time or WEB and assignment title.  Critiques submitted without a title page would automatically have 10 points deducted.  (I know MLA format doesn\u2019t usually have a title page but I WANT YOU TO INCLUDE IT).<\/p>\n

Write a 5-paragraph essay analyzing \u201cRevelations\u201d.<\/p>\n

1) (paragraph 1) Introduce your paper by defining culture and discussion the value of dance. State the purpose of the dance <\/span>Revelations<\/em>.<\/p>\n

2) (paragraph 2) Define the concept of the dance and describing the movement within the dance and what it signifies. Choose at least two dances or sections within the dance to focus on.<\/p>\n

  1. Does the dance display an emotion? Describe the emotion and how it makes you feel.<\/li>\n
  2. What does the choreographer want the audience to think about? Does the dance express any aspect of society?<\/li>\n
  3. What type of movement and gestures were used to express the concept of the dance?<\/li>\n
  4. Did the production elements (set, lighting, music, or sound) contribute to the overall concept of the dance?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    3) (paragraph 3) Write a paragraph giving some background on Alvin Ailey and what inspired him to choreograph this dance. Do some research and find a source you can use as reference. Relate the concept of the dance to Alvin Ailey\u2019s culture and life experiences. Make sure you refer to your source by citing it MLA within the text and add it to the work cited page at the end of your essay with the full citation MLA. You can use journal or magazine articles, newspaper articles, website articles, YouTube interviews; Just make sure that you cite them correctly.<\/p>\n

    4 (paragraph 4) Write a paragraph stating how the choreography reflects life. Do some research and find a source you can use as reference. Relate the concept of the dance to current dance styles or recent issues in our society. Make sure you refer to your source by citing MLA within the text and add it to the work cited page at the end of your essay with the full citation MLA.<\/p>\n

    5) (paragraph 5) Write a conclusion to your paper stating your discoveries and what you understand about art reflecting society and the art of dance as a means to express emotion.<\/p>\n

    5 points \u2013 for each 1\/2 page of text missing (2 full pages required, no deductions for more than 2 pages)<\/p>\n

    20 points -No citations within the text of the paper<\/p>\n

    Deductions will be made for citation format, punctuation, grammar, and spelling errors.<\/p>\n

    10 points each missing citation on the work cited page (2 sources required)<\/p>\n
