justice, sovereignty, and rights. Your analysis should provide the reader with information to help<\/p>\n
answer, What makes this policy food-just or not? Does it need to be amended, expanded, abolished?<\/p>\n
To structure your submission, use the following template (adapted from the HWC 510 format for<\/p>\n
problem definition and analysis of past policy approaches):<\/p>\n
Section 1: Problem Definition [one to one and a half (1<\/p>\n

What is the problem? Define the specific issue or problem being addressed and discuss what<\/p>\n
factors led to its development. What populations are affected by it? Who is advantaged or<\/p>\n
disadvantaged by it? What adverse consequences does the problem pose for people, communities,<\/p>\n

What are the health\/well-being and justice implications of the social problem? How might the<\/p>\n
problem be considered a social determinant of health? How might the problem be considered an<\/p>\n
issue of justice?<\/p>\n
How is the problem perceived? How do affected populations perceive the problem? How do those<\/p>\n
unaffected by the problem perceive it?<\/p>\n
Section 2: Analysis of Past Policy Approach(es), Background [maximum of one (1) page]<\/p>\n
How have past or current policy efforts tried to solve the problem and failed? Describe how policy<\/p>\n
actors have tried to solve this problem in the past or present.<\/p>\n
In what ways have these approaches succeeded or failed? What can be learned from these past<\/p>\n
experiences?<\/p>\n
Section 3: Analysis of Past Policy Approach(es), Specific [three to four (3<\/p>\n
4) pages; Use<\/p>\n

Choose a specific policy from those you introduced in Section 2, above.<\/p>\n
Conduct an analysis of the selected policy, with specific attention to food justice, sovereignty, and<\/p>\n

Examine the contextual factors, policy negotiations\/tradeoffs, reach\/scope, implementation issues,<\/p>\n
functional parameters, outcomes, and\/or other relevant concerns.<\/p>\n
