More options are listed below.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Evaluates the document&#8217;s effectiveness<\/strong> using these rhetorical tools.<\/p>\n<p>This essay is <strong>NOT<\/strong> simply an expository or descriptive essay. A good choice is the three appeals of pathos, ethos, and logos, but this is not required. Or, you can use one or two of the three appeals along with other choices. Examples could be metaphor, simile, alliteration, repetition, allusion, etc. <\/p>\n<p>\u00fc Be sure that your analysis has a clear focal point and an interpretive thesis\u2014a clear statement that sets up the essence of the rest of the paper, naming the three rhetorical devices or tools you will analyze in your paper. <\/p>\n<p>\u00fc Analyze the way the text delivers its message. Consider the rhetorical situation that relates to your chosen text. What can you say about the speaker, the audience for the text, and purpose informing the piece? <\/p>\n<p>\u00fc Think about the genre and medium conventions and about appeals offered in the text (logos, ethos, pathos). Examine the strategies used and the details that are present in the text. <\/p>\n<p>\u00fc Make good use of critical thinking strategies as you begin, allowing careful reading of the text to drive your project.<\/p>\n<p>\u00fc Make sure to remember that this is a rhetorical analysis and not an expository or persuasive paper.
