To narrow it down I want you to start with a policy area, healthcare,<br \/>environment, local government, whatever. Then you will narrow it down to a particular policy or<br \/>set (small, related set) of policies within that larger policy area. From there you will need to see<br \/>how the interaction with the courts has changed how that policy is implemented.<br \/>This is not as simple as taking a case and writing about it. We are not lawyers, so the case is not<br \/>the central part of our consideration, the effects of the case are. Also, as you are finding out,<br \/>cases build on and \u201ctalk\u201d to each other, so you will probably need to discuss much more than one<br \/>case in this paper.<br \/>The paper should be constructed similar to below:<br \/>\uf0b7 Issue at hand<br \/>o What is the policy you are writing about, where did it come from, what was the<br \/>reason for it, what was its intent?<br \/>o What agency or administrative organization is involved<br \/>o What principle of law is the agency\u2019s action based on?<br \/>\uf0b7 Administrative law<br \/>o What spurred the challenge to the role the agency or organization played in this<br \/>policy?<br \/>o What did the court(s) say. Be sure to engage in the decision-making by the lower<br \/>courts as much as possible to understand what the precedent they are working<br \/>with (as you should describe the status quo).<br \/>\uf0b7 How did the agency respond?<br \/>o Was the agency\u2019s action upheld?<br \/>o What changes would be made to the policy if the agency\u2019s action was not upheld?<br \/>o What does this mean for the policy area going forward?<br \/>Please, double space your paper and use a regular 12-point font. Papers are to be 7-10 pages long (not<br \/>including cover page and bibliography).<br \/>Use either APA style for your bibliography and citations. Incorrectly cited papers, minus ten percent.<br \/>Papers without citations but with sources, minus twenty percent. Papers without sources will not be<br \/>accepted, period.<br \/>As for sources, please do not cite Wikipedia, an encyclopedia, or a dictionary.
