You are a senior
\nofficer in the operations directorate of Secretariat of the EMB in your
\ncountry. <\/span>In <\/span>the <\/span>previous <\/span>year\u2019s
\n<\/span>budget, <\/span>the <\/span>EMB <\/span>made <\/span>an <\/span>unsuccessful <\/span>bid <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>government <\/span>to <\/span>include <\/span>in future election budgets funding for
\nthe production of disposable cardboard ballot boxes, <\/span>replacing the metal boxes which in the past have been stored
\nbetween elections. <\/span>In reviewing <\/span>the reason the bid failed, the head of the
\ndirectorate has concluded that the costs of the two <\/span>alternatives – the status quo and the proposed new approach –
\nhad not been comprehensively <\/span>assessed. <\/span>You <\/span>have <\/span>been asked <\/span>to <\/span>gather <\/span>initial
\n<\/span>information <\/span>to <\/span>enable <\/span>that

\n<\/span>with <\/span>using <\/span>disposable <\/span>cardboard <\/span>ballot <\/span>boxes <\/span>in <\/span>future. <\/span>(The <\/span>costs <\/span>and <\/span>savings
\n<\/span>in <\/span>question <\/span>do <\/span>not <\/span>have <\/span>to <\/span>be <\/span>quantified <\/span>at <\/span>this <\/span>stage:
\n<\/span>the <\/span>aim <\/span>is <\/span>to <\/span>ensure <\/span>that <\/span>every
