Introduction:In today’s workplace managers are confronted daily with issues like ethics, diversity, the virtual workplace,
working in teams, sexual harassment, privacy, managing change and more. Imagine being a fly on the wall
as 15 real managers apply their years of experience to confront these real issues head on. That’s precisely
what you’ll find in the Manager’s Hot Seat.
Objective:
You will develop and demonstrate skills in researching and presenting an ethical and responsible business
issue. You will turn in a research report.
Instructions:
1. Select 1 of the 15 cases. See attachments under this tab.
2. For the case selected, you will act as a manager and provide a written report on the following:
a. Identify what is the problem, in great detail, in the vignette (Explain why it is a problem).
b. Provide research on 2 similar situations\/cases that have occurred in the workplace (news articles, case
studies, and the like). You will report on how these similar situations were resolved.
c. You will also provide an in-depth report on your action plan (or how the issue in the vignette should be
resolved). This part of the report should be strategic and extensive, providing a step-by-step process.
d. Finally, you should provide 2 obstacles that could potentially impede your action plan in being
successfully implemented.
e. You will need 5 total sources, the 2 similar cases and 3 other sources, (THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE
CASE ITSELF) cited in your report. One source that is very helpful is the PSC library online database
system. Be careful with just \u201cgoogling\u201d information and you MAY NOT use Wikipedia as a source. You may
use it so you can get back knowledge on your topic, but not as one of your 5 sources. Your research report
must be at minimum 5 pages (doubled-spaced) in length.
f. You should use paragraph format and present research that backs your answers. You will also need to
include a work cited (reference page) and a title page. This translates into a minimum of 5 pages.
g. Your paper must be in APA format: doubled-spaced, in-text references, spelling and grammar check,
and in font of Times New Roman 12, Calibri 12, or Arial 11).
