conducting your own primary source research. Your task is to analyze how your selected topics,<\/p>\n
supported by your primary sources, respond to one of the provided essay prompts. You must also<\/p>\n
incorporate course materials (e.g., assigned readings, lecture notes, films, and other resources) that<\/p>\n
specifically come from the syllabus days corresponding to your chosen topics to contextualize and build<\/p>\n
out your argument. <\/p>\n

Assignment Requirements<\/p>\n
Topics: Choose two topics from the syllabus:<\/p>\n
\u25cf One topic must be from Weeks 1\u20138.<\/p>\n
\u25cfOne topic must be from Weeks 9\u201315.<\/p>\n
Primary Sources: Locate four primary sources <\/strong>(two per topic<\/strong>) that help you analyze your chosen topics.<\/p>\n These sources should complement or work in conjunction with the specific lecture and syllabus material<\/p>\n for the dates you select.<\/p>\n Prompt Selection: Answer one of the provided essay prompts. Your primary sources will form the core of<\/p>\n your argument, but you must incorporate supporting material (e.g., assigned readings, lecture notes,<\/p>\n and films) from the syllabus days corresponding to your selected topics.<\/p>\n Paper Requirements:<\/p>\n \u25cf Length: 7\u20138 pages, double-spaced, 12-point font (this does not include prompt, images, headings,<\/p>\n etc).<\/p>\n \u25cf Thesis: Must include a clear and strong thesis statement that frames your argument.<\/p>\n \u25cf<\/p>\n Citations: Use in-text citations (MLA) to reference both your<\/p>\n primary sources and course material.<\/p>\n \u25cf<\/p>\n Works Cited Page: Include a comprehensive list of all sources cited in your paper.<\/p>\n \u25cf<\/p>\n Include your selected prompt at the top of your paper.<\/p>\n \u25cf<\/p>\n If you choose to include images of your primary sources in your paper, please place them at the<\/p>\n end rather than within the body of your text. You may label the images (e.g.,<\/p>\n “Image 1”) and<\/p>\n reference them appropriately in your writing.<\/p>\n \u25cf Primary Sources Submission: All students are required to upload the files of their four primary<\/p>\n sources to Brightspace. Failure to do so will result in a 10% penalty. Each source must be<\/p>\n uploaded as an individual file, resulting in four separate items in the designated submission<\/p>\n folder.
