\nchapter 13
\nfrom Richard Bourke\u2019s Empire and Revolution, which discusses Edmund Burke\u2019s
\ntext.
\nBourke\u2019s chapter is lengthy, but notice that it includes many footnotes, which
\nyou don\u2019t
\nhave to read. Both of these texts are provided. To these you have to add two more texts which you will find
\non
\nyour own, so the total number of source texts you need for this paper is four.
\nFor these
\nadditional two texts you can include two secondary sources, i.e. articles or
\nbook chapters<\/p>\n
which discuss Burke directly in a manner relevant to his
\nviews on the French Revolution<\/p>\n

A few further points. First, include a bibliography at the
\nend of the paper. Do not use
\nfootnotes or endnotes! Instead, reference the sources in parentheses in the
\ntext with the
\nname of the author followed by the relevant page number [for example: (Burke,

\ninternet,
\nincluding Goggle Scholar, but you can also use Richard Bourke\u2019s footnotes,

\nThroughout, give a detailed summary of what Edmund Burke is saying. This is the
\nmost
\nimportant thing. Then contextualize it with the help of Richard Bourke\u2019s text,
\nand your
\ntwo further self-chosen texts. You can also, on your own, read further from the
\nfull text
\nof Reflections on the Revolution in France, but you must address the topics in
\nthe
\nprovided selection. In addition to (not instead of!) including a summary of all
\nof Burke\u2019s
\nmain arguments, you can choose to concentrate on one specific topic he
\naddresses (for
\nexample religion, or women, etc.), and make this the center of your paper,
\nincluding the
\nadditional texts you choose on your own. In any case, keep first-person
\nlanguage to a<\/p>\n

minimum. You can give your own viewpoint, but be careful not
\nto make this the center
\nof the paper. The aim here is not to judge Burke, or to detail your own views,
\nbut to give
\na serious historical discussion of Burke\u2019s ideas and their historical context.

\nsure to write in good academic English. In the first assignment I did not
\ndeduct points for
\nimproper language, but I will do so this time, particularly if there are
