Podcast: Students are required to produce a 10-minute podcast episode individually. They will be expected to discuss a contemporary issue in gender and education and provide recommendations. This will be an opportunity for them to showcase their learning of concepts and theories related to gender by applying their knowledge to an issue that interests them. Students get some guidance in terms of format and style, however, they will be given liberty to explore, which is expected to result in a diverse range of podcast submissions, in addition to the in-depth content. (LO1,2 and 3) \u2013 100%.
\nFollowing are some guiding questions for your podcast. However, it is not necessary to answer all of them or in the given sequence. Use reliable and academic sources and statistics to support your answers. You can use personal experiences, anecdotes, proverbs and news to help in captivate attention.
\n\t1\tWhy does gender matter?
\n\t2\tWhat is the biggest issue in society with reference to gender? This issue will be discussed in next question with reference to education.
\n\t3\tHow does gender affect education and schooling in your context? (You can select Primary, secondary, FE or HE; also you can choose any country around the world)
\n\t4\tHow do you recommend the implementation of social justice framework regarding gender? Give two recommendations supported by reference.
\nIt is necessary to submit your script for the podcast in word doc, which must include your full reference list. You will not be assessed on the script but only on the podcast. Scripts are requested to use in case of technical errors.
\nAssessment criteria is as follows,
\n\t1\tUnderstanding and application of theory and empirical research in discussing gender as a social construct.
\n\t2\tEvaluating policies and practices related to gender in education sector in your chosen context.
