Throughout the semester, you\u2019ve immersed yourself in the ideas and language of a topic that interests you, during which time you likely crafted your own views and responses to others\u2019 views. MWP #4 is the culmination of your work this semester. By posing a unique argument on a topic that interests you, this project is an opportunity to apply the language and rhetorical devices ideal for persuading your audience (MWP #1), engage with the diverse perspectives of the conversation (MWP #2), and incorporate credible secondary sources into your own argument (MWP #3). By completing this project, you will demonstrate your command of rhetoric, research, and scholarly inquiry. <\/span><\/p>\n

  • CLO 1: Evaluate evidence and logic – including the critique of underlying assumptions, biases, and fallacies – in various texts. <\/span><\/li>\n

    Assignment Requirements<\/h3>\n

    To complete this assignment, you will need to <\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Compose a minimum 5,000 word essay that presents a unique argument on a specific topic of your choosing. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

       Your argument should include <\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      • An original thesis statement <\/span><\/li>\n
      • A section (1-4 paragraphs) providing necessary background and other contextual information. Explain to the reader why the topic is important and why they should consider the argument you make. <\/span><\/li>\n
      • 3-4 reasons that support why the reader should accept your thesis statement <\/span><\/li>\n
      • At least eight (8) scholarly sources to serve as evidence supporting your reasons and overall thesis statement<\/span><\/li>\n
          \n
        • You are welcome to include up to three (3) popular sources in addition to the required eight (8) scholarly sources  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        • Engagement with at least one counterargument; this will include your rebuttal as well <\/span><\/li>\n
        • A conclusion that reviews the important contents of your argument, as well as future questions or areas of further exploration <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Additional Requirements and Formatting <\/h3>\n

          Your final draft should meet the following additional requirements: <\/span><\/p>\n

          • Be at least 5,000 words <\/span><\/li>\n
          • Include an original, descriptive title <\/span><\/li>\n
          • Include all necessary in-text citations AND a Works Cited\/References Page\/Bibliography <\/span><\/li>\n

            • Note: The Works Cited\/References Page\/Bibliography does NOT go toward the minimum essay word count

              I will attatch my rough draft (its only 5 paragraphs), along with my current sources with a summary of each source (i have 6 scholarly sources but will need at least 2 more, feel free to disregard my sources also to get new sources if you want to), and previous assignments\/writings ive done in this class to give an idea of my writing style.  I also will want my paper to be sourced in chicago style. MWP #2 was more of a video for the final product so im not sure how much it will help but ive attatched the rough draft and script I had for the video if that helps at all for understanding my topic more.  <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
