Each student will be required
\nto develop an oral presentation (supported by speaking aids such as a
\nPowerPoint presentation, chart, pictures, etc. if desired) which will be
\npresented to the class on a topic of your choice, but one that relates to the
\nweekly required reading\/presentation for the week you will be presenting. You
\nmay refer to notes during your presentation; however, it is expected that your
\npresentation is on a topic that you know and care about, so it should be an
\noral presentation of your ideas, and not simply a reading from prepared notes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will analyze events
\nthat are taking place in the homeland security\/law enforcement and\/or security
\ncommunities. Each case study will provide: <\/span><\/p>\n

1) a brief summary of an
\napproved transnational threat related topic<\/span><\/p>\n

2) identify the key principles
\nbehind the issue(s)<\/span><\/p>\n

3) explain the positives and
\nnegatives of the key principles<\/span><\/p>\n

4) provide critical analysis, <\/span><\/p>\n

5) suggest application to
\ncourse concepts <\/span><\/p>\n

6) describe lessons learned
\nthat apply to your career (if applicable). 
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The analysis should be
\nsupported by academic information and research. 
\n<\/span>Case studies will be presented to the class during an assigned Webex
\nsession and be between 10-15 minutes in duration.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMaritime Safety & Security Teams (MSST), which are part of the United
