One part of research is to assess your sources for diverse perspectives, which helps to create a robust argument. In this discussion, you will discuss how two of your sources help you understand your topic by portraying diverse perspectives.<\/p>\n

Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful toward your peers and instructor in your initial and response discussion posts.<\/em><\/p>\n

Create one initial post and respond to at least two of your classmates.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For your initial post, address the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Share links to two sources from the Shapiro Library that you have found through your independent research.<\/li>\n
  2. Describe how these two sources support your topic.<\/li>\n
  3. What different perspectives are represented in these two sources? What voices are present in these sources and how do the present voices differ? For example, if you are writing on a four-day work week, an economist, an employee, an employer, and a customer\/client might all have different perspectives on this topic because a shortened work week impacts each of them in different ways.<\/li>\n
  4. Do the voices and perspectives represented in these sources give a full or fair picture of whom the topic touches? If not, what perspectives do you need to consider as you continue your research?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For your response posts, address the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. Review the two sources your peer shared in their initial post.<\/li>\n
    2. What perspectives are not yet represented in your peer’s sources? What might your peer’s audience think if those perspectives are not considered?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Remember, your contributions to the discussion play an important part in building the classroom learning community. This assignment is graded on the quality of your initial post and at least two response posts to your classmates.<\/p>\n
