\n(annotated bib or AB). You are doing this for at least three reasons: to
\norganize and track the sources you find on your topic, to demonstrate knowledge
\nof the existing research about it, and to better understand the relationships
\namong different perspectives on the topic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Topic<\/span><\/b>.
\nThe topic of your annotated bibliography will be the issue you have chosen to
\nwrite about for your research paper. More specifically, you will choose sources
\nto include in your annotated bibliography that will help you answer your
\nresearch question, which should be stated clearly and explained in an
\nintroduction to your AB.<\/span><\/p>\n

 
\n<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Requirements<\/span><\/b>.
\nIn your AB, you should include:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. An introduction that includes your
    \n research question and explains why your topic is relevant or even
    \n controversial (that is, why it is an issue in the field). The introduction
    \n should further give a very brief overview of the different viewpoints
    \n included in your AB.<\/span><\/li>\n
      \n
    • Must be 150-300 words. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      • 5 sources organized alphabetically. <\/span><\/li>\n
          \n
        • At least 3 of these must be scholarly,
          \n peer-reviewed sources. <\/span><\/li>\n
        • As you select your sources,
          \n make sure you have a variety. For example, you should not have more than
          \n two sources by the same author. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          1. An annotation for each source that
            \n includes:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The Works
            \nCited\/References entry.<\/span><\/p>\n

            2.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>A properly documented
            \nsummary of each source that includes just the main points that are relevant to
            \nyour research question.<\/span><\/p>\n

            3.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>I<\/span><\/b>nformation about the author that
            \nproves it is a credible source. <\/span><\/p>\n

            4.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>An
            \nexplanation\/evaluation of why you chose to include this source in your
            \nannotated bib (what makes it unique and\/or relevant?). Note that \u201cthis source
            \nrelates to my topic\u201d is not enough and does not count.<\/span><\/p>\n

            5.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>A discussion
            \nof how this source connects to the other sources. Note that \u201cthis source
            \nconnects to the other sources because it\u2019s on the same topic\u201d is not
            \nsufficient. Find specific<\/b> overlaps
            \nor discrepancies.<\/span><\/p>\n

            6.    
            \n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Each
            \nannotation should between 150-250 words. <\/span><\/p>\n

            #4 and #5 should make up a good deal of
            \neach AB entry. One sentence for each will not be sufficient<\/span><\/b>.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

            1. A
              \n consistent documentation style \u2013APA or MLA, depending on field of study<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
