The syllabus states that the initial discussion post must be in by Thursday.  All subsequent responses to one of your fellow students must be in by Sunday evening.  Your first post should address all the questions with those comments supported by your research.  Follow up responses to your fellow students must be more than “great post”, ” I agree” or other short, non-substantial comments.  You must add value to your responses.  The purpose of discussion assignments is an attempt to bring some of what often develops in a classroom environment here into our class.  In the classroom, students interact, share opinions, and collaborate on ideas.  Shared learning so to speak.  We don’t have that luxury too often in an online learning system.<\/p>\n

Your response to your classmate’s post must be a minimum of 100 words of strong engaging conversation to receive <\/strong><\/span>credit.<\/strong>  One would expect to see that students are furthering the conversation by adding new information that might be of interest to your fellow student’s idea.  That might be information you have first-hand knowledge of, a website, or article, you have researched to further your fellow students understanding of the business she or he is considering.<\/p>\n

The Discussion Topic <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Many Entrepreneurs choose to start their business by joining a Franchise Concept.  Each year the trade magazine dedicated to “Quick <\/span><\/span><\/a>Service Restaurants  to an external site.<\/span><\/span><\/a> <\/span>publishes a list of the top 50 QSR Franchise concepts.  <\/span>Below are two links.  Their 2023 Top 50, and their 2022 Top 50<\/strong><\/p>\n

 Review two Burger Franchises<\/strong><\/p>\n

By Thursday, October 31st. share with your classmates your response to the four questions below pertaining to your two chosen franchise concepts.  Response to <\/span>One <\/span><\/strong>of your fellow student’s posts must be in no later than Sunday, November 3rd.<\/p>\n

1.  Name the two Franchises you are reporting on and how they are ranked in the top 50.  What were their total change in units for each year.  <\/p>\n

2.  After reviewing all of the top 50, what franchise concept had the most store closings and lowest Average unit sales (AUV) in year 2023 and 2022.  What do you think is going on there?  Could it be poor quality, poor management, higher than usual operating cost, poor hiring practices, poor parent company.  Give me your take on this.<\/p>\n

3. Compare your hot dog food truck sales projections to the lowest revenue franchise of the Top 50.  Do you think your business could succeed in a store front location. Explain.<\/p>\n

4.  What surprised you most when you reviewed the top 50 fast food concepts.  Also, tell your classmates which of the top 50 Franchises you visit the most, and why?  Lastly, off all the top 50 concepts which one would you consider buying into.  Explain why?<\/p>\n

Respond to your classmate post and summarize an article you found newsworthy pertaining to one of their franchise choices.  To get points for this assignment, be sure to provide the link to the article or attach a pdf of the article.  Your response must be a minimum of 100 words to earn points for your response.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
