COUNSELING 040: RESEARCH PROJECT<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

            <\/span><\/p>\n

The Research Project will allow you
\nto explore a career or university of your choice.  <\/span>This will give you an opportunity to know
\nwhat education, training, minimum qualifications, skills and experience you
\nneed in order to achieve your goal.  <\/span>This
\nresearch project requires a five-page double spaced research essay, size 12
\nfont,  <\/span>In addition, you will make a Power
\nPoint presentation (approximately 10 slides) on your chosen career or
\nuniversity topic highlighting your key points, main ideas and important information
\nyou discovered through your research You may incorporate pictures and animation
\nwithin your Power Point presentation as well. 
\n<\/span>This research project will not require a bibliography or reference page.
\n <\/span>You are able to use the Pierce College
\nLibrary online resources, academic journals, magazines, newspaper articles,
\ninternet sites, brochures, catalogs, etc. to gather all your information.  <\/span>Be creative and have fun!<\/span><\/p>\n

You are encouraged to discuss the following topics in your research
\nproject:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Write a summary of your university or
\ncareer choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Describe the location of the
\nuniversity or career.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>What is your major or career goal?<\/span><\/p>\n

4.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>What are the requirements to attend
\nthat university as a transfer student?<\/span><\/p>\n

5.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>What types of responsibilities will
\nyou have in your career?<\/span><\/p>\n

6.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>How much does it cost to attend that
\nuniversity per year?<\/span><\/p>\n

7.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>How much does someone make a year
\nworking in that career?<\/span><\/p>\n

8.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>What type of training or education is
\nneeded to reach your university or career goal?<\/span><\/p>\n

9.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>How long do you think it will take
\nyou to achieve your goal?<\/span><\/p>\n

10. <\/span><\/span><\/span>What are the advantages and disadvantages
\nof attending that university or pursuing that type of career?<\/span><\/p>\n

11. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Describe some obstacles that may
\nprevent you from achieving your goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

12. <\/span><\/span><\/span>List some strategies that you will
\nutilize to overcome your obstacles.<\/span><\/p>\n

13. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Discuss your opinions about your
