In the Introduction to <\/span>Subjectivity<\/i>, Mansfield discusses competing (theoretical) models of the \u201cself.\u201d In doing so, he argues that there is a division between theories that view the self as integrated and theories that view the self as fragmented. Focusing on these terms, \u201cintegration\u201d and \u201cfragmentation\u201d compare and contrast the model of the self that was created by two (2) of the following theorists: the Enlightenment thinkers (one or some combination of those discussed in Chapter 1), DuBois, or Freud.<\/p>\n
