\ncertificate will complete a project in each course, which applies and develops
\nthe functional area of management represented by the course to an appropriate
\nissue\/problem\/task within an actual organizational environment.<\/u><\/p>\n

The SMAC for this course is expected to average 10 – 15
\npages in length<\/a>[1]<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> and must include a \u201cReference Page\u201d
\nsection with<\/u> appropriate citations throughout the paper. 
\nCiting only internet addresses is incomplete. Students are required to use
\nthe APA method only<\/u>.  Learning contracts must be submitted
\nwith the SMAC. <\/p>\n

Development of Managerial Abilities<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Graduate Student Handbook, as part of every
\nSMAC, students are required to evaluate how successful they were in developing
\nthe targeted abilities relative to that course.  Therefore, Managerial
\nAbilities must<\/u> be included when submitting your final SMAC.
\nStudents must include how they successfully developed a targeted ability in
\nhis\/her SMAC.<\/p>\n

As you know the abilities fall within three categories: Goal
\nand Action Abilities; People Management Abilities; and Analytic Reasoning
\nAbilities.  Although students are not limited to the abilities listed
\nbelow and are not required to choose the abilities listed below, a review of
\nthe material that will be covered during this course suggests that the
\nfollowing abilities may be developed: Systems Thinking and\/or Planning.<\/p>\n

SMAC Topic Description<\/u><\/b> :<\/p>\n

The SMAC for this course is an analysis of a specific health
\ncare problem and the role your healthcare facility plays in trying to address
\nthe problem.  The problem may be facility wide, involve a specific
\ndepartment of a facility, or involve the facility\u2019s catchment area. The
\nanalysis must be related to work experience and self-directed.
