EX:<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Quote<\/span>: As Michael Myers explains, \u201c98% of the attacks in Haddonfield occur on Halloween\u201d (52). &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Paraphrase<\/span>: According to Michael Myers, Halloween is a dangerous time of year in Haddonfield (52).<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Some other verbs to use in signal\/launch phrases: insists, emphasizes, maintains, proposes, observes, suggests, offers, and adds. Notice that these verbs are in the present tense. Keep them that way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">To paraphrase: &nbsp;<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">1. Read your source carefully.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">2.<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Put a section of the source material in your own words<\/strong>. It is best to paraphrase a small section of the original. The length of the paraphrase should match the length of the section of the source you are using.&nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">3. If you did not lead into the paraphrase with the author\u2019s name, include it at the end of the sentence with a page number (if you have one) in parentheses. If you do not have a page number, just include the author&#8217;s name. EX: Travelers should avoid Haddonfield on Halloween due to an increase in crime during that time period (Myers).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">To quote: &nbsp;<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">1.<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Quote material that you are unable to put into your own words<\/strong>.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">2. Use a colon to join a related sentence and quoted material, or lead into your quotation with a verb. EX: Haddonfield is a perilous place on Halloween: \u201c98% of the attacks in Haddonfield occur on Halloween\u201d (Myers 52).<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">3. Include source citation somewhere near the quotation (before, during, or at the end). Citations include the last name and the page number. The first name appears the first time you cite a source. No author name means you use the article title as you would an author&nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">name. EX: Haddonfield is a perilous place on Halloween: \u201c98% of the attacks in Haddonfield occur on Halloween\u201d (\u201cDangers of Halloween\u201d).<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">4. Electronic resources (articles) often do not have page numbers, so you will just end the quote with a period and quotation marks.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">5. Follow MLA guidelines for punctuation.&nbsp;<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">6. If you use long quotations, follow the rules found at Purdue&#8217;s OWL.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Other Guidelines for Sources:<\/strong><\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">1. Any summarized, paraphrased, or quoted source must be cited on your Works Cited page.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">2. Most of your paper should come from your original thoughts. Use your sources to supplement your original thoughts. Do not quote, paraphrase, or summarize the entire paper.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">3. Do not copy word for word unless you enclose that material in quotation marks and include citation information.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">4. Do not paraphrase or summarize material without including citation information.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">5. The school\u2019s library website is the safest place to find sources, and you can find all your sources there.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">6. Do not plagiarize.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">7.<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><em style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Wikipedia<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/em>is not a reliable resource.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Basic Information:<\/strong><\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">1. Commas and periods should be placed inside quotation marks (99% of the time).<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">2. Colons and semi-colons should be placed outside quotation marks.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">3. Single quotation marks are used to indicate a quotation inside another quotation.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">4. When you have no author, use the title as you would the author\u2019s name in citations.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">5. You will not have a title page. Your first page will be numbered, as will the other pages, even the Works Cited page.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">6. You are responsible for submitting your work on time and in order.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">7. Writing about a topic that is not argumentative in nature will result in a 0\/100.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">8. Failing to properly introduce and use quoted, paraphrased, or summarized material will result in a lowered grade.<br style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">9.
