In a class action lawsuit against Apple Inc., members claimed that their phone performance would go down after new software updates were completed, specifically in regard to battery life. The class action suit resulted in a $500 million settlement. Apple decided to settle in order to avoid litigation (which would have been even more costly, believe it or not). There were 175,000 verified (and unverified) class members, and each received $211 as their settlement payout. Settlement also included paying other iPhone owners around $25 – as long as they claim and followed through with it. Apple’s attorneys, Christopher Corsi, Charlene Gallion, Raj  Johal, Sean Pennington, and Megan White received 30%<\/strong> <\/span>of the total settlement fund, for attorneys’ fees and costs; an amount that came out to around $15.9 million. <\/strong><\/p>\n
