You are required to investigate the epidemiology of one of
\nthe following health-related behaviours<\/p>\n

and provide implications for policy, practice and future
\nresearch.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Smoking tobacco<\/p>\n

\u2022 Excessive alcohol drinking<\/p>\n

\u2022 Exclusive breastfeeding<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sedentary behaviour<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It must include the following components:<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Describe the problem and context of the chosen behaviour to
\nshow why it is a problem and<\/p>\n

deserves to be studied. At the end of this section state the
\nobjective\/s of your paper.<\/p>\n

\u2022 You may wish to focus on a specific geographical focus
\n(e.g in UK, Ghana, across Africa) or a<\/p>\n

global focus<\/p>\n

\u2022 You may wish to focus on a specific demographic focus (e.g
\nchildren, older adults, pregnant<\/p>\n

women, racially minoritised groups)<\/p>\n

Prevalence and determinants of the behaviour<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Analyse the scale and burden of the behaviour e.g. by
\nreporting and analysing prevalence and<\/p>\n

other measures of occurrence in the chosen context. This may
\ninclude distribution by person place<\/p>\n

and time if applicable such as prevalence in different age
\ngroups, communities, times etc.<\/p>\n

Analyse determinants of the behaviour by reporting and
\nanalysing odds ratios and\/or risk ratios<\/p>\n

for association between the risk factors and the behaviour.<\/p>\n

Effect of the behaviour on health<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

Analyse the effect of the behaviour on health e.g. by
\nreporting odds ratios and\/or risk ratios for<\/p>\n

association between the behaviour and the health outcomes
\n(morbidity, mortality).<\/p>\n

Show your understanding of epidemiological study designs
\n(case-control studies, cohort studies<\/p>\n

systematic reviews and meta-analyses etc.) and their
\nstrengths and weaknesses<\/p>\n

Include in-text references to support all of your claims.<\/p>\n

Control and prevention\/promotion<\/p>\n

Discuss some control\/prevention interventions\/programs that
\nhave been tried to address the<\/p>\n

behaviour in your chosen context or if not available, in a
\nsimilar context elsewhere, and how<\/p>\n

effective they have been.<\/p>\n

Conclusion and recommendations<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

What policy, practice or research recommendations could you
\nmake to address the issues<\/p>\n

identified? Justify your recommendations based on your
