  • Slide 3:<\/strong>  Case Presentation – <\/span><\/span>Do not include patient identifying information but include demographics i.e. age, gender, race\/ethnicity, chief complaint, social history, family psychiatric history, psychiatric history, and risk factors.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Slide 4:<\/strong> <\/span> Screening Tool used – Describe the screening tool, validity (sensitivity and specificity), scoring information, and citation.  Your patient\u2019s score and the interpretation of the patient\u2019s score are required.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Slide 5:<\/strong> <\/span> Brief Intervention – How was the Motivational Interviewing process applied and shared your client\u2019s score and need for behavioral changes?<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Slide 6: <\/strong> <\/span>Referral for Treatment – Describe the referral for a follow-up treatment plan.  Include the name, address, and telephone number of the local large organization.  Be specific with the department where necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Slide 7:<\/strong>  Evaluation of the process – Share the patient\u2019s outcome and your evaluation of the SBIRT process.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Slide 8:<\/strong>  References \u20135 references.  7th Edition APA format.  Include Screening Tool authors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The slides are to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation, and misspellings.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The narration must be fluid with clear diction and the volume of speech is appropriate, with no pauses or distracting fillers.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The PowerPoint presentation should be formatted per current APA guidelines and 8-10 slides in length, including the title and references slides. Could you incorporate a minimum of 5 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work?  For presentation clarification, students may include the presenter\u2019s notes.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Record the project with whatever software works best for you, upload it to Studio, and submit the project using Canvas Studio.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Upload your PowerPoint without the narration for this assignment.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Your initial post is worth 8 points.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting\/correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts. Your reply posts are worth 2 points (1 point per response.) <\/span><\/li>\n

      • Include how the screening tool is appropriate for the patient you have chosen. <\/li>\n
      • Include the picture of the actual screening tool, the score for each question, and the total raw score.<\/li>\n
      • Include the sensitivity and specificity of the tool.  If the screening tool has low sensitivity and specificity, <\/span>it should not used.<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • The brief intervention transcript must be written on the PowerPoint slide.  What did you say to the patient that demonstrated the stages of motivational interviewing and the OARS technique? What did the patient say to you? Label each OARS technique in the transcript.<\/li>\n
      • Provide three relevant large, local agencies to refer your patient to with details (address, telephone number, and department if necessary)<\/li>\n
      • Include a reference for the sensitivity and specificity of the screening tool you are using and other references to support your assignment.<\/li>\n
      • All content must be on the slides, not the speaker notes.  Any information not shown on the slides will not be considered for grading.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Ask a librarian to review your references for current APA formatting.<\/li>\n
