Once identified, research problems drive the research<br \/>\nquestions and ideally lead to understanding of the research findings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">In this first part of the&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Scholar Practitioner Project (SPP)<\/strong><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">,<br \/>\n you will develop an introduction\/problem statement focused on the<br \/>\nimportance of your research topic as a public health issue. You will<br \/>\nalso develop a research question based on this problem and propose a<br \/>\nstatistical analysis plan for study of this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<div style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<ul style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Review the module Learning Resources. (See attachments)<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Review the original data set (not the one that you modified for the<br \/>\nDiscussion) that you selected for your Scholar Practitioner Project in<br \/>\nModule 1 and open it in SPSS. (see attachment Md2Assgn_Brown_T(1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><strong style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Part 1: Variables (2 pages including frequency tables)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Using your original data set, perform the following operations to include in your report:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Select a continuous variable from the data set and provide full definition for each variable.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Convert a continuous variable to a categorical variable (which may be used to answer one of your research questions).<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Provide an explanation of how you converted the variable.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Produce frequency tables for the new variable you made.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">If any of the cells in your frequency table has fewer than 6<br \/>\nindividuals in it, combine that level with other levels so there is no<br \/>\nfrequency less than 6.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Submit descriptive statistics for the new variables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Submit each of these elements in your Part 1 report.<\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\"><strong style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Part 2: Research Questions and Statistical Analysis Plan (1\u20132 pages)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Write a brief introduction\/problem statement on the importance of<br \/>\nyour research topic as a public health issue. This should be similar to<br \/>\none that you might submit for your Doctoral Study.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Support your response, with a limited review of the current literature (3\u20135 references)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Translate your research topic into research question(s).<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Describe the study population you selected for your project (study<br \/>\npopulation is defined based on your research topic) and a rationale for<br \/>\nthe chosen population.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Include a list of variables (dependent, independent, confounding,<br \/>\netc.) from your selected data set, that you will be using to answer your<br \/>\n research question(s).<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Include a rationale for why you think those variables are enough for answering your research question.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Describe the levels of measurement for each variable.<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Develop a statistical analysis plan (no analysis will be completed in this section), including:\n<ul style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Descriptive methods you will be using to describe data<\/li>\n<li style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Analytic methods you will be using to answer your research question(s).
