Description

\n<\/span><\/u>This assignment will allow students to
\nanswer and articulate in writing: how can Aesthetics and Social Responsibility
\nin Design co-exist? Using at least TWO theories discussed this term and giving
\nat least FOUR specific examples of architecture and interior design, describe
\nways that visually engaging spaces can also inspire Social Justice in the built
\nenvironment.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Review the variety
\nof critical theories discussed throughout the term and look ahead to Unit 9\u2019s
\nfocus on Social Responsibility in Design.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nDrawing from the information that you have gathered, propose a thoughtful and
\nengaged argument that aligns Aesthetics and Social Responsibility. Using past
\nand current examples of designers and architects who promote this relationship,
\nyour evidence is articulated through at least FOUR architectural and interior
\ndesign examples. Using these built environment examples as support, link at
\nleast TWO different Interior Design Theories from the unit\u2019s that support your
\nargument. Consider the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

a. Context
\nof your FOUR chosen buildings\/interiors:<\/u> what challenges of site,
\ndemographics, time period etc. could make the intent to relate Aesthetics and
\nSocial Justice more important?<\/span><\/p>\n

b. Focusing
\nyour argument on one specific issue:<\/u> eg Indigenous Design, Low-income
\nhousing, remote locations, cities in crisis, locations in war, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

c. Define
\nyour TWO chosen theories<\/u>; start by clearly stating and explaining the two
\ntheories you have selected from the unit\u2019s. Provide definitions, background
\ninformation, and key concepts or principles that are central to each theory.
\nThis section should give a thorough understanding of what each theory is about.<\/span><\/p>\n

d. Exploring
\nhow they are explored through examples<\/u>; after defining the theories, move
\non to illustrating how these theories are applied or examined in practice. Use
\nspecific examples to show how the theories manifest in real-world situations or
\nin the context of a particular subject or case study. These examples should
\nhelp to elucidate the practical implications or the real-world relevance of the
\ntheories<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Use as much images
\nand illustration needed, but ensure proper labelling of each image with Figure reference.
