I just need to write an essay on a topic of my choice from current research in linguistics. I will send you all of our class presentations so you can see what we’ve gone through, which might help you narrow the scope. The most interesting part for me is visual grammar. Aim: Explore current research in linguistics. <\/p>\n

How to do this: Choose what interests you and search for papers on a linguistic\/discourse treatment of the topic. Or browse through several past issues of any of the journals and see what people have been writing about: I’m sure you’ll find something interesting (if not even fascinating!!!) <\/p>\n

Task: Choose two research studies on topics of your interest, published in respectable journals (or edited books, as book chapters) over the past 5 years. The papers should be on the same \/ comparable topic. Read them carefully. Then compare and contrast the papers, discuss the authors’ approach, relevance of the topic, and share any other insights you obtained from the papers. What does this help us to understand? <\/span>Do not just provide content, do not copy out abstracts, etc. Provide full bibliographical information of the papers in your response paper. If possible, upload them as additional files with your submission.<\/span><\/p>\n

Length: 1000 words. (but more is better)<\/span><\/p>\n
