Assignment<\/b>: Compare European migrants\u2019 experiences in America between the seventeenth century (as described <\/u><\/span>in Games) and the nineteenth century (as described in the documents). What were the similarities and differences?<\/u><\/p>\n

\u2022 You must use Games AND at least two of the document sets (<\/span><\/p>\n

Imminent Dangers, Dublin Ch. 2,<\/span><\/p>\n

and Dublin Ch. 3).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 You must use at least 4 quotations (\u201c\u201d) from Games. You also must use at least 4 quotations from <\/span>the document sets you selected. If you use Dublin, be sure to quote the documents written by Irish or <\/span>German immigrants in the nineteenth century, NOT Dublin (editor)\u2019s explanatory notes on pp. 63-65, 82-<\/span>85.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Your paper should be 5 full pages long.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Double spaced; 12-point font, Times New Roman; Standard 1-inch margins on all sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 When you quote the documents, provide the author\u2019s name and the page number within parentheses at the <\/span>end of the sentence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Example: In a letter to her uncle, Catharine Bradley admitted that \u201cI was very fortunate in getting a good <\/span>situation as soon as I did (Dublin, p. 65).\u201d No formal footnotes\/endnotes are necessary for this assignment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your paper will be graded on five criteria.<\/span><\/p>\n

support the thesis?<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Structure: Is the paper organized well? Does it have an introduction, body, and a conclusion? Is the <\/span>structure of the paper logical? Does each body paragraph have an effective topic sentence? Is the transition <\/span>between paragraphs smooth? Does the introduction succinctly set up the context for the paper and <\/span>introduce the thesis?<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Analysis: Does the paper effectively analyze sources and offer a persuasive interpretation? Does the paper <\/span>use specific examples from the sources to substantiate claims? Is the paper analytical, rather than <\/span>descriptive?<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Citation: Does the paper follow the rules for citation correctly?<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Language and Clarity: Is the paper written in a clear and polished language? Is the paper carefully proof-<\/span>read? Is the paper free from spelling and grammatical errors?<\/span><\/p>\n
