For this assignment, you and your partner(s) (if applicable) are required to think about a topic related to L2 social and political issues in education to help prepare you for your final research paper. Importantly, annotated bibliographies are tools to ensure that you understand what the research literature is saying and to help you evaluate research to use concretely for your research paper. It is most helpful if you think of a thesis statement to ground your thinking and to help form an argument.<\/p>\n

Possible topics to include (although the list really is quite exhaustive):<\/p>\n

    Inclusion of English language learners into classes;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Supporting queer, trans, and nonbinary people in the school\/healthcare setting;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Antioppressive L2 education and its tenets for creating equitable and inclusive learning<\/p>\n

    environments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Refugee learners and factors impacting their L2 learning\/teaching;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Racialized folks\u2019 experiences of L2 learners\/teachers;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Indigenous language revitalization efforts;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    Plurilingualism and translanguaging in L2 contexts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This assignment consists of two parts:
    1. An annotated bibliography. Please include a minimum of five to seven (5-7) scholarly<\/p>\n

    citations that you plan on using for your final paper. These citations need to be completed in APA7. These cannot be the course texts.<\/p>\n

    a. An annotated bibliography of three (3) of those five to seven 5-7 sources. Here, you will state the main argument of the source (usually by identifying its thesis), its major methods, and conclusions. Please make sure to include why or how this particular and chosen citation is helpful to your contexts.<\/p>\n

    2. An outline of your paper. This can be done however you see fit. This can be done by hard copy and scanned to me, by using bullet points and arrows, by writing out chunks of the paper, etc. The goal of the outline is for me to understand and to verify that you\u2019re on track to completing the assignment. Since the course is condensed, and since the final paper is weighted so heavily, this is an important factor for success. Please be sure to include example introductory information, sequencing of body paragraphs and how they <\/span>respond to your thesis or research question, preliminary analysis, and early conclusionary remarks.<\/span><\/p>\n
