AAC&U Releases New Five-Year Strategic Plan Focused on Equity,
\nInnovation, and Excellence<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

AAC&U today released
\nits strategic plan for 2023\u201327 during its annual meeting in San Francisco. The
\nplan presents the goals and aspirations that will guide the association\u2019s work
\nover the next five years.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Equity, Innovation, and
\nExcellence foregrounds AAC&U\u2019s values, purpose, and scope within the
\ncurrent societal context and landscape of higher education, and the plan
\noutlines the strategic objectives that will frame the association\u2019s commitment
\nto continuous innovation, improvement, and expansion.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

AAC&U President Lynn
\nPasquerella announced the release of the new strategic plan in her address to
\nattendees from higher education institutions across the country and around the
\nworld who are gathered at the 2023 Annual Meeting, \u201cReclaiming Liberal Education.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs institutions recover
\nfrom the impact of COVID-19, renew commitments to equity and community
\nengagement, and reimagine the future of postsecondary education on their
\ncampuses, delivering a high-quality liberal education equitably will be more
\nimportant than ever,\u201d Pasquerella said. \u201cThe plan serves as a collective call
\nto action for those of us who believe that a liberal education provides the
\nfoundational knowledge and skills that empower students to advance the common
\ngood through responsible and engaged citizenship in local, national, and global
\ncontexts.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Equity, Innovation, and
\nExcellence was developed through a comprehensive strategic planning process
\nthat began in July 2021 and was designed to promote collaboration among
\nstakeholders\u2014AAC&U\u2019s staff and board of directors as well as faculty,
\nstaff, and administrators at member institutions. In the process, the AAC&U
\nBoard of Directors approved a revised mission statement to serve as the
\nfoundation for the 2023\u201327 strategic plan: AAC&U advances the democratic
\npurposes of higher education by promoting equity, innovation, and excellence in
\nliberal education.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The plan commits the
\nassociation to four strategic objectives to guide its work over the next five
\nyears:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Sustain an association prepared to thrive and
\nchampion liberal education globally.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
