For this lesson, you will present your final project, an application of the theories and research you have studied throughout the course to a specific type of criminal behavior. This is a project that you have been building gradually throughout the course and through which you can demonstrate your understanding of criminal behavior.<\/p>\n

You will revisit topics such as the developmental, neurobiological, and learned origins of criminal behavior. You will focus on a specific manifestation of criminal behavior and suggest ways to prevent such behavior or to rehabilitate those who have exhibited it. Good luck!<\/p>\n

Instructions<\/p>\n

Imagine that your community leaders are concerned about the rise of crime. They ask you to prepare a presentation for law enforcement officers, parents, schools, and juvenile justice workers, In this presentation, you will do the following:<\/p>\n

    Present an analysis of the prevalence of specific crimes in your area,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Choose one crime to analyze further,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Using the cascading development model, discuss the developmental risks and preventive factors of this crime.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Explain how this crime may manifest behaviorally during adolescence (either in criminal or pre-criminal behavior), and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Identify any mental disorders associated with the crime.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Provide the attendees to the presentation with a 1-2 page bullet-point handout describing how the development of this behavior can be prevented during childhood. Include community, family, school, and government level suggestions.<\/p>\n

    Length: 15 pages, not including title or reference pages. <\/p>\n
