\nThe project is intended to provide the opportunity for you to show your ability to apply
\nappropriate accounting theories to explain, interpret and evaluate corporate voluntary
\ndisclosure choices within a context of real-life case study. You are expected to
\ndemonstrate your ability to:
\na) Specify an aim and objectives.
\nb) Identify, analyse and critically appraise relevant accounting theories, academic
\nand\/or professional literature as appropriate.
\nc) Identify, analyse and evaluate collected data.
\nd) Interpret data analysis results with relevant accounting theories.
\ne) Systematically and creatively apply critical thinking, problem solving, research
\nskills and communication skills when state, explain and justify your findings and
\nconclusion.
\nf) Organise and present information clearly and succinctly in the required format.
\n2. Requirements
\nBiodiversity conservation is increasingly recognised as an urgent issue in the political,
\nsocietal, and business realms around the world. Corporate biodiversity stewardship is
\ngaining prominence as a critical aspect within this wider socio-political context. In
\nrecent years, a growing number of companies are voluntarily disclosing information
\nrelated to their biodiversity management practices in their annual reports and\/or
\nsustainability reports, particularly those that have substantial impacts on biodiversity
\ndue to their business operations and activities. Corporate biodiversity disclosure falls
\nunder the umbrella of corporate environmental disclosure, which constitutes a key
\ncomponent of corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting. You are required to
\nconduct a case study research project to explore and understand the emerging
\npractice of corporate biodiversity disclosure in annual reports and\/or sustainability
\nreports.

\nThe title of your project is:
\nA critical case study analysis of Company X\u2019s biodiversity disclosure
\nThe aim of this project is to apply appropriate voluntary (unregulated) disclosure
\ntheories and literature to explain and interpret the selected company\u2019s water disclosure
\nmotives and practices. Select ONE global public company listed on
\nhttps:\/\/tnfd.global\/engage\/inaugural-tnfd-early-adopters\/. Analyse the quantity and
\nquality of biodiversity-related disclosure in its annual reports and\/or sustainability
\nreports for the past one to five years period, data availability depending. Select ONE
\nvoluntary disclosure theory and use your selected theory to critically evaluate the
\nextent to which this reporting, in terms of quantity and quality, is effective in serving
\nthe companies\u2019 voluntary disclosure motives.
\n3. Length
\nThe project should be no more than 1,500 words in English excluding tables,
\nreferences, and appendices. +\/-10% either side of the word count is deemed
\nacceptable. Any text that exceeds an additional 10% will not attract any marks.
\n4. Structure\/Organisation
\nThe project should be presented with a clear aim and objectives. It must have a logical
\nsequence of sections. It should not be a personal narrative and must not be purely
\nsubjective or descriptive in content. Your project will normally have the following format:

\n\u2022 Literature review (Current knowledge and views on selected voluntary
\ndisclosure theory and literature)
\n\u2022 Brief company and sector overview
\n\u2022 Presentation and analysis of data
