You will be required to write a short paper (1.5-2 pages \/ 3+ well-developed<\/span>
paragraphs) applying an ethical theory discussed in the course to a business<\/span>
case.<\/span> <\/span>I will provide a short sample of business cases (<\/span>available on Canvas<\/span>)<\/span>
which will function as examples of moral dilemmas and in response to the one of<\/span>
your choosing you will then apply an ethical theory to it.<\/span> <\/span>This will require<\/span>
you to explain the case, identify the moral problem(s) within it through the<\/span>
lens of a moral theory, and then provide a \u2018what-to-do\u2019 explanation generated<\/span>
by the moral theory of your choosing. 
<\/span><\/p>\n

The Application Paper will require the following:<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
1.5 – 2 pages long<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Double-spaced<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
no citation is needed just mention which case you are responding to in the title or opening sentences <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
Word document submitted via Turnitin.com to check for plagiarism<\/span>
<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
The Application Paper must have three sections:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
1. describe and explain the business case (1 paragraph)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-you will select one of the cases provided<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-you will be asked to describe or explain the case<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-this is a summary of your chosen case to make sure you are understanding what’s going on <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
2. problem identification via moral theory (at least 1 paragraph)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-from the perspective of one of the moral theories disscussed in this course, identify what the moral problems are in the case of your choice<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-choose from either: deontology, utilitarianism, or virtue ethics <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-describe what a deontologist, utilitarian, or virtue ethicist would see as problematic from your chace of choice<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-make sure you understand the theory correctly and in how you use it to identify the issues with the case<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
3. action guidance (at least 1 paragraph)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-provide a ‘what-to-do’ explanation of the case from your moral theory of choice <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-recall that a moral theory should be able to provide action guidance for real-life cases: guidance and direction for what we should do or how we should do or how we should live <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

-also, recall examples of moral dilemmas we’ve seen (from the book ‘justice by michael sandel’) and how a denotologist, utilitaarian, or virtue ethicist would try to give direction on a correct course of action <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
-using your moral theory and case of choice, give detailed guidance on what the individuals in your case should do and why<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
