Develop the ability to present and defend arguments and interpretations about both<br \/>\nwar and peace in an appropriate and scholarly manner.<br \/>\n3. Understand the War\/Peace Cycle from the state, non-state, as well as international<br \/>\nperspectives.<br \/>\nLearning Outcomes<br \/>\nAfter completing the module, the students should be able to:<br \/>\n1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the major concepts and theories relating<br \/>\nto the War\/Peace Cycle, including visions, causes and justifications, prevention and<br \/>\npreservation, termination, and restoration, as well as transcultural perspectives.<br \/>\n2. Critically analyse the events, processes, relationships, institutions, and core actors<br \/>\ninvolved in the War\/Peace Cycle.<br \/>\n3. Apply a critical understanding of the competing concepts and theories relating to<br \/>\npatterns of war and peace and associated historical and contemporary events.<br \/>\n4. Analyse war and peace from the state, non-state, and international perspectives.<br \/>\nNotes<br \/>\nThere is more to understanding the War\/Peace Cycle than uniquely reading, watching,<br \/>\nor listening to the news. What do \u2018war\u2019 and \u2018peace\u2019 mean and how do they interact with<br \/>\neach other? This module provides insights into the War\/Peace Cycle by examining the<br \/>\ntheories, concepts and authors in this field that help us to answer this vital question. It<br \/>\ninterrogates how these theories, concepts and authors can help explain the world and<br \/>\nbe applied to real-world case studies.<br \/>\nLearning Activities and Teaching Methods<br \/>\nLearning activities will include:<br \/>\n1. Tutor input via online formative and summative assessments.<br \/>\n2. Online learning discussion forums, which will allow peer to peer exchanges between<br \/>\nstudents.<br \/>\n3. Online tasks to enhance subject knowledge, with the inclusion of VLE and electronic<br \/>\ntools, directed reading and formative and summative assessments.<br \/>\n4.
