\n\uf0b7 This is a reflective essay that requires you to explore and understand some of the
\ndistinctions, principles, concepts and issues that you encountered during this course in
\neither your lectures, workshops or the reading materials.
\n‘Distinctions’: Reflect on the lectures, workshop materials and the reading
\nmaterials. Are there any issues, points or arguments presented that were new
\nor surprising to you? Anything that contradicted your prior assumptions or
\nknowledge.
\ne.g 1: entrepreneurship might not always lead to economic development!
\n‘Principles & Stories’: Reflect on the principles, concepts, theories or even
\nexamples presented in the lectures, workshop materials or in the reading
\nmaterials. Did you understand the rationale and logic of these principles,
\nconcepts, theories or examples?
\ne.g 2: Targeting increased market share can be a costly affair!
\nActions: What you hear, read or experience is essentially stored as short-term
\nmemory. As the term suggests this memory is short term and short-lived . Unless
\nyou take specific and immediate steps this memory will be lost. You should look
\nat each of the distinctions, principles or stories and take immediate steps to
\nconvert them to long term memory, knowledge or deep learning. Action can be
\nanything (not necessarily just the example given below) that helps you to
\nconvert your short-term memory into something that you will be able to retain
\nover a long period.

\n\uf0b7 This essay is therefore by definition broad and you can choose any topic of interest and
\nexplore how this may or may not relate to entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial
\nenterprises.
\n\uf0b7 This essay is designed to test your depth of understanding and research. There are no right
\nor wrong answers but simply the quality and level of your own original arguments. This
\nessay is therefore not about reproducing existing theories or concepts but its application
\nespecially in the context of entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial enterprises.
\nTentative Structure
\nThis is a tentative structure designed to assist you in writing your essay. This is certainly not
\nexhaustive and neither is it the stipulated structure. Please feel free to adapt and modify it to your
\nrequirement.
\n1. Introduction : That clearly sets the context and explains the problem. It could be an
\nidea\/concept that you came across in the lectures\/workshops that you feel is worth
\ninvestigating. Why is the subject relevant in the context of entrepreneurship or
\nentrepreneurial enterprises? (approx 500 words)
\n2. Literature Review (Actions): A section exploring and developing an understanding of the
\nproblem from a theoretical standpoint. The review should assist in distilling some of the
\nmeasures\/variables that can be used to deconstruct the problem. You can use any
\nconceptual frameworks. graphs or diagrams that assists your understanding. This is the
\n‘actions’ referred to in your personal journal (approx 750 words)
\n3. Application : Applying the measures\/variables from section 2 to the problem at hand in
\norder to explain ‘why’ this problem arose. How does this application relate to
\nentrepreneurship or entrepreneurial enterprises? (approx 500 words)
\n4. Conclusion: Discuss how this problem could be incorporated or might be avoided in the
