The in-depth discussion of the blockade should be left for the case analysis section, and you should also be referring to primary sources, like specific speeches or media that circulated in Qatar during that time, as evidence of fear, anxiety, love, hate, disgust, pride etc. I would suggest taking a draft of your paper to the writing center, as they can help you clarify the structure. Also, there are places you are citing authors but I don’t see any mention of their arguments and ideas–again, you need to break down these arguments in DETAIL in the lit review before moving to the case analysis. Then you can apply the ideas you have discussed to your case.

Statement of
Topic

The Qatar
blockade provides an opportunity to analyze the role of emotions in traumatic
situations. The Qatari society initially displayed a sense of fear and anxiety
over the blockade, as the country depended on its road connectivity with Saudi
Arabia for trade (Gengler, 2021, pp. 24-26). The fears of Qataris were
justified, as the blockade created shortages of essential supplies and promoted
anxiety towards losing their sovereignty. Thus, the paper would focus on
analyzing emotions such as unease faced by Qataris during the blockade. Also,
the paper will explore the outcomes of Qatari resilience, as the government
rejected all demands on its neighbors and imported essential goods from other
nations via sea and air routes. Qatar’s financial stability and geopolitical
importance were critical in its strength, but strong leadership shown by the
government led to the germination of patriotic ideas within the society. Therefore,
monetary and external buffers allowed Qatar to withstand all threats during the
Saudi-led siege (Selmi & Bouoiyour, 2020, p. 100). Qataris
felt protected by their regime and witnessed a growth in trust and allegiance
with their leader.

Thesis

The main
argument of the paper would be to explore the role of the Qatar blockade in
different emotions experienced by Qatari society. The paper will highlight that
the blockade challenged the moral norms of international relations and forced
Qataris to question their sovereignty. However, the decisions of their
leadership and the financial strength of their nation transformed the emotions
of fear and anxiety into pride. Witnessing a strong leadership at the helm
built admiration for the ruling family, especially as they cared for their
citizens’ needs and countered aggression through shrewd diplomacy. The
reshaping of the emotional responses was secured with courageous leadership
decisions and delivering to the needs of their people. Thus, the paper will explore
the strategic mobilization of national unity and support for the ruling regime.
The research will employ a literature review to identify similar scenarios in
which people’s collective emotions impact their patriotism and loyalty to the
ruling regime.

Thank you very much!

This is for a class called politicizing the passion in which we discuss emotions and politics.
