\n Dr. Joy DeGruy argues that a system of racial oppression, conditioning
\nthrough enslavement and consistent terror contributes to the actions and
\n repeated behavior due to trauma.  Dr. DeGruy writes, \u201cone traumatic
\nexperience can result in distorted attitudes, dysfunctional behaviors,
\nand unwanted consequences, this pattern is magnified exponentially when a
\n person repeatedly experiences severe trauma, and it is much worse when
\nthe traumas are caused by human beings\u201d (9).<\/p>\n

Show through quotes, analysis, and the use of other sources how
