This literature review will be focused on the topic chosen in week 2 (which must be approved by your instructor via the discussion), and the outline and references sheet created in week 3.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

For this assignment, you are required to produce a 5-8 page paper (not including title page, tables\/charts, and references) on a topic of your choice.  Consider covering a physiological topic and how exercise impacts this area of the human body.  You may choose any system we have (or will) discussed and how it is impacted by any type of activity (I advise you to choose a topic of interest as it will be much more enjoyable and useful).  You may also discuss how exercise influences disease and abnormal conditions.  <\/p>\n

Examples of topic ideas (remember to look at the role of exercise on a certain system or function in the body):<\/p>\n

How Insulin Resistance (endocrine system) is Impacted by Aerobic Exercise (type of activity)<\/p>\n

How Strength Training (type of activity) impacts Anaerobic Metabolism (energy system) <\/p>\n

Some topics\/sections that may be covered (this is not exhaustive in the least):<\/p>\n

  • Introduction (required): An overview of your main topic (how ___ is influenced by _____) and why it\u2019s important.  Build rationale for your paper…make it compelling!<\/li>\n
  • A deeper dive into the issue at hand (the disease, altered physiology, etc).<\/li>\n
  • A deeper dive into how exercise changes the outcomes\/adaptations<\/li>\n
  • Recommendations for how exercise may help the situation<\/li>\n
  • Conclusion (required): How the topics are related, why it matters, and who all it can influence, the overall take-home message<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Remember this is a physiology paper.  Therefore, the text should be written scientifically, and without opinion, personal experience, or any first-person text.  APA guidelines are required to be followed throughout.  A minimum of 10 primary peer-reviewed articles is required for support.  Other resources from reputable places (governing bodies, other literature reviews, etc) may be used as a supplement, but will not count towards the required 10. <\/p>\n
