The paper should have three clear sections\/parts <\/span><\/span>(see <\/span><\/span>below). <\/span><\/span>Select <\/span><\/span>a <\/span><\/span>local <\/span><\/span>government <\/span><\/span>(The City of Miami Gardens, Florida), <\/span><\/span>and prepare an<\/span>analysis of <\/span><\/span>its budgeting <\/span><\/span>procedures using <\/span><\/span>the guidelines below. Class material should be integrated into your paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span><\/span>paper <\/span><\/span>should <\/span><\/span>be <\/span><\/span>6-10 <\/span><\/span>pages <\/span><\/span>(not <\/span><\/span>including <\/span><\/span>bibliography <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>appendix) <\/span><\/span>written <\/span><\/span>analysis, <\/span><\/span>must <\/span><\/span>be in APA format, word doc, and should be double-spaced with 12-point font and Times New Roman Script. Full citation is expected, according to APA.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The information for this paper will come from reviewing the budget documentation that you collect from interviews with key participants, text, and other academic publications.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>For larger organizations, you may want to focus on one or two departments. This paper will focus on Capital Projects and Finance.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Full citation is expected. (Wikipedia is not an academic source.)<\/span><\/p>\n

7.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Cite all references using the APA citation style.<\/span><\/p>\n

8.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Papers are evaluated using the learning goals, and the student\u2019s ability to synthesize the material and provide a critical analysis of the issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

9.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>This paper should reflect college-level work in content, appearance, organization, grammar, and effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Students will upload the paper to Canvas for grading.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Expectations:<\/span><\/p>\n

12.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The premise, supporting arguments, and conclusions are logically presented and analyzed systematically.<\/span><\/p>\n

g.     <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Evaluate <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>budget <\/span><\/span>guidelines. <\/span><\/span>Are <\/span><\/span>they <\/span><\/span>available <\/span><\/span>online?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

PART <\/span><\/span>II. <\/span><\/span>THE <\/span><\/span>BUDGET <\/span><\/span>DOCUMENT<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Remember <\/span><\/span>as <\/span><\/span>you <\/span><\/span>write <\/span><\/span>that <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>points <\/span><\/span>in <\/span><\/span>this <\/span><\/span>section <\/span><\/span>are <\/span><\/span>strictly <\/span><\/span>related <\/span><\/span>to <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>budget <\/span><\/span>document <\/span><\/span>and all related documents like department head worksheets and other materials and\/or software.<\/span><\/p>\n
