Essays lacking such textual evidence <\/span>cannot pass<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Quotations must be no longer than two lines. You will use quotation marks to indicate that it is a quote. You do not need to give citations for this test.<\/p>\n

The essay should be <\/span>well organized, well supported, coherent, and free of major grammatical errors<\/strong>.  It should demonstrate <\/span>deep familiarity with both texts <\/span><\/strong>\u2014 <\/span><\/strong>a familiarity achieved through reading, rereading, lecture, class discussion, study, and analysis.<\/p>\n

The introduction needs to begin with a clear mention of the author and the name of the text. The thesis contains your main claim\/argument and should be found in the first or second sentence. The body paragraph\/s should develop the argument. You do not need a concluding paragraph but do use a concluding sentence.<\/p>\n

High-scoring essays will be those that make <\/span>specific, accurate, well informed, well supported<\/strong> <\/span>claims.<\/p>\n

Low-scoring essays will be those that make <\/span>vague, inaccurate, uninformed, or unsupported<\/strong> <\/span>claims or use AI generated language.<\/p>\n

Essays that do not <\/span>respond directly to the prompt<\/strong> <\/span>cannot pass.<\/p>\n
