It challenges the normal views of self and promotes a more in depth perception of<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">inequalities in society.<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">Intersectionality was coined by Kimberle Crenshaw, a legal scholar, some of her work such as<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">Demarginalizing the intersection of Race and Sex; a Black feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">Doctrine, Feminine Theory, and Anti-racist politics, paved a way for the concept of<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">Intersectionality. Although she set the foundation for Intersectionality, it has since been<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">developed further by feminist theorists, sociologists and people working in gender studies, this<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">further development has allowed the concept of intersectionality to develop past its original<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">limits into a more versatile instrument in understanding the complexity of identity.<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">The context of Intersectionality is in the broader framework of feminist theory and critical race<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">theory. It is important in understanding the dynamics of gender<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">and communication. It goes past the simple categories and accounts for an individual&#8217;s<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">complexities and experiences from intersecting identities.<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">My strategies for learning about intersectionality are to look at foundational texts, scholarly<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">articles, academic journals, and webinars. I will read Kimberle Crenshaw&#8217;s works, for example,<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">\u201cMapping the Margins : Intersectionality, identity politics, and Violence against women of color\u201d<\/span><br style=\"cursor: auto;\"><span style=\"margin-right: -744.234375px; margin-bottom: -744.234375px; font-size: 13.376972px; cursor: auto;\">to gain conceptual ideas and origins of my concept.
