As most of us know, TikTok has become a very popular app for individuals to share video clips of their day, their occupation, their experiences, and express their outlook on certain circumstances. In regards to the healthcare field, this app can provide many positive outcomes, but also holds some consequences. <\/span><\/p>\n Having a platform as extensive and universal as Tik Tok allows for people to connect over common ground despite where they live. It has provided a space for people to share their knowledge about diseases, current events, and even recipes. It has helped break down language barriers that have previously prevented people from interacting due to the lack of understanding each other (Braga, 2023). This has proven useful for Tik Tok users to discover new diagnoses, and new ways to manage their disease process whether it be through holistic measures or pharmaceuticals. This can help close the gap in health care through accessibility and availability of information (NCSBN, 2011). Although this can be very beneficial, it does not come without consequences, including privacy and confidentiality. This can be harmful to patients, as well as coworkers. This does not necessarily mean showing the patient or coworker on video. This can simply be describing the patient or scenario in enough detail that they are able to be identified (NCSBN, 2011). Effective nurse-patient relationships<\/span><\/p>\n are built on trust. The patient needs to be confident that their most personal information and their basic dignity will be protected by the nurse (NCSBN, 2011).
