Your paper needs to have an introduction, body, and conclusion. <\/span><\/p>\n

Introduction<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

Briefly introduce the topic, say why it matters, and include a thesis statement. Your thesis should summarize in one or two sentences the main points you will argue for in the body of your paper. For example, one possible thesis statement could be, “I will argue that John Hick’s soul-making theodicy fails as a response to the problem of evil.” (See section #3 below.) It\u2019s also a good idea to provide a brief roadmap of the rest of your paper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Body<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

In the body of your paper, you need to do three things. You should organize them into three sections, with section headings. Use as many paragraphs within each section as you need.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Explain the problem of evil.  <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Explain the problem of evil as clearly and powerfully as you can. Make sure you clearly explain each step of the argument, and that you support key steps with your own vivid examples.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Do not allow your own opinions to shine through.<\/strong><\/span> <\/span>You’ll be able to share your views later. In this section, just lay out each step of an argument from evil in detail. You are welcome to explain <\/span>William Rowe’s version<\/a>, but there are <\/span>other versions<\/a>, and you are welcome to explain any version you want.       Explain in detail the response to the problem of evil you read in the previous unit.<\/p>\n
