Summative assessment<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>The summative assessment is<\/span> <\/span>individual<\/span> <\/span>coursework. Students will write a course<\/span><\/span>paper (3,000 words), divided into two parts which are equally weighted. A template<\/span><\/span>will be available in Learn as a guide on what to include in your work.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Part One (50%)<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>Produce a design for a technology which<\/span> <\/span>will support a specific target population,<\/span><\/span>either older adult, someone living with a long<\/span>–<\/span>term condition in a rural\/remote or<\/span><\/span>urban region, a person with a disability, a carer, or an individual wanting to lead an<\/span><\/span>active, healthy lifestyle. The design docum<\/span>ent should not exceed 1,500 words in<\/span><\/span>length and may include graphics, photos, pictures and sketches which help explain<\/span><\/span>the intended digital solution.<\/span> <\/span>Your group work will inform this design work. While you<\/span><\/span>develop things in a group format, the submission i<\/span>s individual which allows students<\/span><\/span>scope to vary ideas or reflections on the engagement with the target audience.<\/span><\/span>It is<\/span> <\/span>NOT<\/span> <\/span>a technical document and does not require any specific software<\/span><\/span>application building or coding information. The design document mu<\/span>st outline the<\/span><\/span>specific functionality<\/span> <\/span>of the technology, with supporting evidence where appropriate,<\/span><\/span>and explain how it will be used by your target audience to address their care need.<\/span><\/div>\n

Part Two (50%)<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>The technology has now gone into production and will<\/span> <\/span>be launched to a team of<\/span><\/span>health or social care professionals next month! Produce a briefing paper, supported<\/span><\/span>with relevant evidence,<\/span> <\/span>which does not exceed 1,500 words<\/span> <\/span>in length and<\/span><\/span>addresses the following three key needs of this team;<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>a)<\/span> <\/span>The role of the health or social care professional in rolling out the technology<\/span><\/span>and supporting individuals to use it effectively.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>b)<\/span> <\/span>The benefits and any potential challenges that the technology will bring for<\/span><\/span>individual service users.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>c)<\/span> <\/span>The ways in which th<\/span>e health or social care professionals can measure and<\/span><\/span>evaluate the impact of the technology on the target audience and wider <\/span><\/span>community.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>You should remember to draw on theories of innovation, leadership and change<\/span><\/span>management in considering how you can best<\/span> <\/span>brief the team to roll out this<\/span><\/span>innovation successfully.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span>Word Count<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span>Word counts must be stated on the assignment. The word count excludes the<\/span><\/span>references, the main title, table content and table \/ figure legends, but includes all<\/span><\/span>other material. Footno<\/span>tes cannot therefore be used to include extra material, and<\/span><\/span>the use of footnotes is discouraged.<\/span><\/span>If there is a fixed word limit (e.g. 4,000 words) work will be subject to a penalty of 10<\/span><\/span>marks if the word count is more than 10% over the prescribed word<\/span> <\/span>length (e.g.<\/span><\/span>4,401 and above). <\/span><\/span>No specific penalty will be applied for submissions with fewer than the<\/span><\/span>recommended number of words.<\/span><\/div>\n
