PART 2: INDIVIDUAL LEARNING DIARY

You
\n will keep a reflective diary of your learning from the beginning of the
\n course. Each week, you should write up an entry in your learning diary,
\n discussing your learning and how your thinking has evolved. After 10
\nweekly entries, you should conclude your diary with a reflective
\ndiscussion (1000-1500 words) on how your perception of \u2018systems\u2019 has
\nchanged based on what you have learned.
Learning may come from many
\nsources, including lecture material, forum discussions, the presentation
\n (part 1) assignment, discussions with lecturers and peers, independent
\nreading, watching clips, etc. You can include and reflect on absolutely
\nanything that has contributed to your learning. You should include key
\nreferences if appropriate, and you may also include things like images
\nand diagrams if you wish.
Everyone\u2019s diary will be different and
\nunique to them, depending on their own experiences. There is no single
\ncorrect way to lay out the diary, or sources and topics that must be
\ncovered \u2013 this is entirely up to you. However, there are some
\nrequirements that you should make sure you address as these form the
\nbasis of the assessment criteria (included at the end of this document).
\n You must:
1.\tDemonstrate understanding of the main learning points arising from the class, and provide an appropriate overview of these.
2.
\n\tDemonstrate evidence of additional reading and learning beyond the
\nclass materials. This learning should be at an appropriate depth, and
\ndiscussed in the context of\/related to the class content.
3.
\nDemonstrate how your understanding of the subject and thinking evolved
\nas a result of the module, through reflective discussion.
4.\tPresent
\nthe discussion in a manner that demonstrates mastery of the subject,
\nallowing you to talk about and debate the subject in a professional
\nsetting.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The presentation will be marked against the following criteria:
1.
\n\tUnderstanding of learning from the class: Extent to which the main
\nlearning points arising from the class have been understood, and an
\nappropriate overview given.
2.\tIndependent learning and
\ninvestigation: Extent of additional reading and learning beyond class
\nmaterials, depth of this learning, and extent to which it is related
\nback to class content.
3.\tEvolution in understanding and thinking
\nduring the semester: Extent to which the student\u2019s understanding of the
\nsubject and thinking evolved as a result of the module, and depth of
\nreflective discussion on this.
4.\tProfessional mastery of the
\nsubject: Extent to which mastery of the subject has been demonstrated,
\nand the ability to talk about and debate the subject in a professional
\nsetting.
NOTE: An underlying goal of this assignment is to help the
\ncourse participants to use Systems Thinking in their work. Being able to
\n explain one\u2019s own learning path with systems is an important part of
\nthis.
