You can sign up (first come, first serve)<\/span> <\/span>for your topic in<\/span> <\/span>the<\/span> <\/span>Blackboard<\/span><\/span>Discussions<\/span> <\/span>area<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Original publications are defined as<\/span> <\/span>peer<\/span>–<\/span>reviewed, experimental or study<\/span>–<\/span>based<\/span> <\/span>journal<\/span><\/span>articles that are not a Review<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>You will be required to send me your<\/span> <\/span>main<\/span> <\/span>article via email<\/span> <\/span>no later than 2<\/span>–<\/span><\/span>weeks prior to your presentation for approval<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>Tips for Your Presentation:<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>Choose at topic that interests you either conceptually or methodologically.<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>Utilize PubMed to identify a popular, interesting and\/or controversial journal article<\/span> <\/span>to present.<\/span><\/span>1.<\/span> <\/span>Research any preceding or follow<\/span>–<\/span>up publications that can also be presented to enhance<\/span><\/span>your<\/span> <\/span>summary.<\/span><\/span>2.<\/span> <\/span>Feel free to use Review articles to guide your research. Just don\u2019t present<\/span> <\/span>that content.<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>Convey an opinion on the efficacy, utility, or any concerns you may have on th<\/span>e results and<\/span><\/span>conclusions that your publications suggest.<\/span><\/span>I would<\/span> <\/span>like<\/span> <\/span>to see<\/span> <\/span>you organize your presentation as follows:<\/span><\/span>1.<\/span> <\/span>Brief introduction to the topic and how your<\/span> <\/span>articles<\/span> <\/span>fit into<\/span> <\/span>the field.<\/span><\/span>2.<\/span> <\/span>If relevant, a brief description of<\/span> <\/span>preceding research articles.<\/span><\/span>3.<\/span> <\/span>A summary and explanation of the Materials and Methods of your main article.<\/span><\/span>4.<\/span> <\/span>A summary and explanation of the Results and Conclusions of your main article.<\/span><\/span>5.<\/span> <\/span>If relevant, a brief description of the f<\/span>ollow<\/span>–<\/span>up articles.<\/span><\/span>6.<\/span> <\/span>Your opinions and criticisms of the publication and it\u2019s impact on the field.<\/span><\/span>Note: A Rubri<\/span>c<\/span> <\/span>for your presentation and written summary<\/span> <\/span>is<\/span> <\/span>provided for you on Blackboard.<\/span><\/span>You will also hand in a<\/span> <\/span>1000<\/span>–<\/span>word<\/span> <\/span>summary<\/span> <\/span>of<\/span> <\/span>the impact that your article has had in the field.<\/span><\/span>This should not be a copy of what you presented, but rather, a<\/span> <\/span>high<\/span>–<\/span>level commentary on how this<\/span><\/span>work is\/was received.<\/span> <\/span>This may include<\/span> <\/span>remarks on whether this research helped the advancement of<\/span><\/span>further discoveries or even social media debates regarding their findings.<\/span> <\/span>This summary<\/span> <\/span>can be<\/span><\/span>written in any<\/span> <\/span>format, and marks will be awarded for the following attributes:<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>Grammar, vocabulary and flow.<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>No redundancy in ideas presented throughout.<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>Clear<\/span> <\/span>understanding of the material.<\/span><\/span>\u2022<\/span> <\/span>The breadth and depth of your summary<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
