An ethical dilemma is a

\nperfect solution. In such situations, critically analyzing and thinking about
\nall applicable ethical principles and standards is important. Even then, it can
\nbe hard to make ethical decisions, but decisions must be made. Often, avoidance
\nof making a decision is a decision within itself, and it can bring the worst
\npossible outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

The process for solving
\nethical dilemmas can be multifaceted. You must consider all parts of a
\nsituation in order to make an informed and responsible decision about how to
\nproceed ethically. The more layers, the more difficult an ethical dilemma is to
\nresolve.<\/span><\/p>\n

The American
\nPsychological Association’s “Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code
\nof Conduct” and similar standards developed by other professional
\norganizations are important sources of guidance. Ethical theories provide
\ngeneral frameworks for evaluating ethical positions. In addition, ethical
\ndecision-making models are important tools to resolve ethical dilemmas. These
\ntwo concepts can be confusing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your PowerPoint should
\ninclude the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Title
\nslide<\/span><\/b>: On the first slide of the PowerPoint:<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Enter a
\ndescriptive title of approximately 5\u201315 words that concisely communicates the
\nheart of the case study. It should stir interest while maintaining professional
\ndecorum.<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Enter
\nyour name, and a job title and organization that would fit with your case
\nstudy.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Case
\nStudy Overview slides<\/span><\/b>: Provide the briefest possible narrative description of the
\nprofessional conflict in the case. Additional supporting details and references
\ncan be added in the notes section in the slide. The overview should include:<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>The
\nprofessional setting of the case.<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Brief
\ndescriptions of the individuals involved and their roles.<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>A brief
\nsummation of the ethical dilemma presented in the case study.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ethical
\nConcerns slides<\/span><\/b>: Bullet point three or more ethical concerns in the case and
\napply one or more ethical standards to each concern. Additional supporting
\ndetails and references can be added in the notes section on the slide. Be sure
\nto link to elements of the code.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Comparison
\nof Ethical Theories slides<\/span><\/b>: In the first row of the provided table,
\nenter the names of two<\/b> ethical theories that you think would
\nbe the most appropriate for the situations in the case. In the following rows,
\nenter comparisons of relevant features of the two theories. In the notes
\nsection, evaluate which theory provides a more functional framework for your
\ncase and explain why. (Note that ethical theories and ethical decision-making
\nmodels are two different things. Please make sure you are comparing,
\ncontrasting, and evaluating two ethical theories).<\/span><\/p>\n

5.     <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ethical
\nDecision-Making Model slides<\/span><\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n

o   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Choose
\nan ethical decision-making model, and identify each step in the model.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nthe model to your case and, under each step of the model, describe how that
\nstep would look if you applied it to the case.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nmulticultural issues presented in the case study within the selected ethical
\ndecision-making model.<\/span><\/p>\n
