    1. Topic Sentence — Re<\/em>member that this topic sentence points the reader back towards the thesis statement.

    2. Quotation from a Text — <\/span>Which phrase or sentence best supports the point you are making in this particular paragraph?<\/em><\/span>\n

      1. announce the quotation — Example: In “Allegory of the Cave” Plato writes that “…” (#).<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      2. quote directly from the text — The quotation is the part that should be where the ellipses are in the example right above this in part a.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      3. “In other words…” — What does the quotation mean? In other words, Plato is trying to convince his readers that … .

      4. Connect the quotation’s point to a source outside of the Reading (like the other required reading or a secondary source) — <\/span>This need only be two or three additional sentences. Making connections shows a higher degree of understanding of how the texts interact with each other to provide support for the essay’s thesis\/topic. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        Conclusion Paragraph Structure<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

        1. Conclusions are short — four or five sentences.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. Conclusions tell the Reader what they should do or think about now that they know more about this essay’s topic.<\/span><\/li>\n
        3. The very last sentence should point back to the Hook (if you have a Hook).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
