      As I recall my
      \nphilosophy at the start of the MS nurse practitioner program at Adelphi
      \nUniversity, not much has changed.  <\/span>My
      \nphilosophy has been and continues to be to care for others regardless of race,
      \nreligion, creed, and sexual orientation. The essence of my approach boils down to treating
      \npeople the way I wish to be treated and ensuring the delivery of quality care
      \nto all. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      Embarking on NUR-636-ANP: Adult
      \nHealth Nursing I Clinical, I found myself in the role of a novice NP,
      \nnavigating the unfamiliar territory of seeing and caring for patients not as a
      \nnurse but as a provider.  <\/span>Having the
      \nability to not just carry out orders such as medicating, starting an IV, drawing
      \nbloodwork but to be the one ordering, diagnosing, and verifying all awhile
      \nputting my patients\u2019 preferences first.  <\/span>Collaboration
      \nwith patients, considering their perspectives in decision-making, became key,
      \nthough ultimate decisions were not solely dictated by them. To provide my
      \npatients\u2019 quality care whether it be preventative, or ongoing treatments for
      \nhypertension and diabetes to name a few. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      Society and healthcare are dynamic.  <\/span>As an<\/span> <\/span>MS-prepared nurse the development of quality
      \nhealth care is required to meet the demands of society. <\/span>Achieving
      \nquality healthcare entails stepping back to observe patients, their families,
      \nand ourselves, paying attention to verbal and non-verbal cues. <\/span>We need to focus on the many aspects
      \nbefore providing this quality care.  <\/span>Our
      \npatients need to be receptive in making lifestyle modifications, whether it be
      \nstarting a new medication or regimen to improve their health.  <\/span>Partnering with our patients is what is needed
      \nfor the best possible outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Progressing through my MS program,
      \nentering NUR-646-ANP: Adult Health Nursing II Clinical brought me back to the
      \nsame clinical site as ANP I Clinicals. This revisit allowed me to apply the
      \nknowledge gained in lectures, building confidence and fostering positive
      \npatient relationships.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      There I had the ability to gain
      \nconfidence in the knowledge I obtained in lecture class and apply it at the
      \nclinical site with the patients being seen. 
      \n<\/span>Gaining a rapport with patients who were able to see me again helped create
      \ntrusting relationships, including providing positivity towards the care I rendered.  <\/span>I can truly see my progression in the MS
      \nprogram and the knowledge I have gained.

      Now, transitioning to NUR-655-ANP:
      \nAdult Health Nursing III Clinical, the reality is sinking in that soon I will
      \ncease to be an NP student and become a Nurse Practitioner. The prospect is
      \nsomewhat stressful, requiring trust in the knowledge and experiences acquired.
      \nThe mantra remains to prioritize patients, while self-care is crucial to
      \nsustain the nurse practitioner I aspire to be. Recognizing the availability of
      \nresources and guidance from colleagues, including MDs and Nurse Practitioners,
      \nprovides reassurance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      Down the line, I would love to teach
      \nfuture nursing undergraduate students. Past experiences as a nurse preceptor
      \nrevealed the fulfillment of guiding confident, eager learners who appreciated
      \nthe insights I shared.  <\/span>Looking into the
      \nfuture and becoming part of leadership, I feel I need to practice clinically
      \nand see what the population I care for needs. 
      \n<\/span>Based on that, I could then take a stance in being proactive in
      \nhealthcare, however, it remains to be seen.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
