Find a work of art in your community.
\n* It does not need to be a non-Western image, but it can be from any time period or culture.
\n* You should select only one work of art.
\n* Copy down the complete identification information on your chosen work. This includes:
\n* Title
\n* Artist’s name
\n* Date it was created
\n* Scale (size and shape)
\n* Medium (material it is made from)
\n* Analyze your chosen work of art based on the information presented in your textbook and outlined below.
\n* Consider how and why the work was created.
\n* Aspects to be considered (these are not listed in a particular order):
\n * Color: Describe the color and explain how it affects the mood of the work and how it is used to organize the composition.
\n * Composition: What is the subject or narrative? How is the work organized and unified? How do your eyes move around the work, and what do you focus on?
\n * Objects: what is in the work? Is it crowded or empty? Is it naturalistic or abstract and to what degree?
\n * Size and shape: horizontal or vertical? Large or small?
\n * Technique: the manner and ability with which the work was created. This would be the brush strokes and paint of a painting, or the material of a sculpture and how it is manipulated and moved.
\n * Style: the distinctive manner in which the work was created and the category into which the work falls. Some examples of styles are expressionist, surrealist, pop art, realism, and abstract.
\n* Write a 5-page paper (roughly 1250 words).
\n* Include an APA-formatted title page and reference page.
\n* Include:
\n * An introduction
\n * A paragraph about each of the aspects listed above (Color, composition, objects, size and shape, technique, and style)
\n * A conclusion that discusses how the creative process is revealed in your selected work
\n* Demonstrate college-level writing (ideas are well organized and supported; sentences are clear, concise, and precise, with proper spelling, grammar, and scholarly tone).
\n* Use APA 7th edition style format.
\n* Include a properly formatted title page
\n* Use double spacing, Times New Roman (12-point) typeface, and 1-inch margins.
\n* Include APA-formatted citations in the body of the paper.
\n* Provide an APA-formatted reference list at the end of the paper.
